Laundry hacks

I have been reading and reading, studying, researching, and testing laundry stuff to share with you all. We ditched all of our toxic products this year and have decided to go a more natural route, this includes our laundry routine.
You may have heard me say it before, but I was a laundry snob and refused to use anything besides Tide, Downy and of course when the scent beads came out I had to have those too. My Grandma used these, my mom, and so did I. I LOVED the way my clothes smelled but I will be honest, I always felt like there was a film of crud left on my skin but I never thought anything of it. That was just normal right? Well, after having tiny humans and researching more about the products we used in our home, I was terrified and embarrassed of the things we had in our house and I didn't want my tiny humans to be coated in chemicals from things that were supposed to "clean" our house, clothes, bodies, etc. So inevitably, we ditched and switched to all natural products which includes Thieves cleaner, laundry detergent, dish washing powder and dish soap. This took time for us, it didn't happen over night. Financially that was just not feasible for us but little by little we have switched out our products.

Today I wanted to share with you all of my laundry hacks, some include Thieves, some include baking soda, or Epsom salt, but all include essential oils. Of course essential oils are optional but I love the way they smell and they have health benefits plus they give my clothes that fresh clean scent that I love to have, annnnnd you can make your laundry smell any. way. you. want. Just use your favorite oils!
First, Thieves laundry soap hack. Since Thieves products are super concentrated, you can make them go much further. Let me try to put this in perspective for you, I bought this bottle of Thieves laundry soap in December 2018, it's now the end of February 2019 and we are still using the same bottle and have so much left in the jug! We do a lot of laundry guys, like, a lot. With two tiny humans, a herd of dogs, workout clothes, work clothes, etc., we probably wash at least 2 loads a day. When you buy Thieves, you are buying a product that is concentrated and with concentrated products, you can dilute, dilute, dilute! Make it worth your money people, it works just as well and lasts so much longer. PLUS, there are no harsh chemicals coating your skin!! I was buying Tide and Downy at least once a month and that cost me at least $40 a month. This bottle of Thieves laundry soap cost $29.50 since I am a member with Young Living, and has lasted us well over two months and still going.
I found this gallon pour jug at Michael's Craft stores for only $16 plus a 40% off coupon, so totally worth it. I measured out 22.5 oz of Thieves laundry soap and put it in the jug, then I filled the rest with water and stirred. That's it! added 2 cap full of Thieves cleaner for extra cleaning power but this is optional.

The next hack is "bleach" This is an all natural bleach or laundry booster. I used a 32 oz mason jar for this project, Thieves cleaner, hydrogen peroxide, and lemon essential oil.
- 3 cups of water
- 1/2 cup of hydrogen peroxide
- 2 cap fulls of Thieves cleaner
- 10 drops of lemon essential oil
Add all ingredients to a mason jar and shake/stir. Add 1/2 cup of the mixture to your load of laundry to help boost the color.
If you don't have lemon essential oil, the best way to get it is by buying the starter kit, you will get lemon essential oil and SO much more, plus you can get Thieves cleaner for a discounted price just like all other young living products.

The next hack is fresh scent booster. I used to use those scent beads in my laundry but now we use this little concoction. This mixture is so easy and affordable, you probably have most of these ingredients on hand already.
You'll Need:
- 1 cup of Epsom salt (we buy an 8lb bag at Walmart for less than $8)
- 1/2 cup of baking soda
- 20-30 drops of your favorite essential oil, we like to use purification or lemon
Add 2-3 TBS to your load for a fresh scent plus the baking soda will boost your Thieves laundry detergent.

The last laundry hack is this spot treatment stick. You know, for when your babies have a blow out or grass stains, or moms, the unintentionally tragic wine spill. This spot stick is ultra concentrated and works wonders!
You'll need:
- 1 cap ful of Thieves cleaner
- equal parts Thieves laundry detergent
- 10 drops of lemon essential oil
- 5 drops of thieves essential oils
- Fill the rest of the bottle with water
Apply to tough stains, let soak for a min and then rinse or throw it in the wash.
I hope these hacks help you make the most out of your Thieves products and to help you and our family save a money. More importantly, by helping you use more natural products!
Shoot me a message if you want a hack for something! Chances are, I have one haha.

Cass
